Dune Part 2 can we chat for a moment?
This film doesn’t just feel like a rewarding conclusion to all the attempted screen adaptations of Frank Herbert’s very visionary and detailed novels, but also the fullest expression of ideas, themes and massive amounts of aesthetics Denis Villeneuve, a master of storytelling, has been working towards throughout his career.
The best addition to this already stellar cast is Austin Butler as the baron’s bald, crazy eyed, hyper vicious nephew. He is a scene stealing menace and exactly I.M.O. expertly cast! One could also finally say that it is official: Butler no longer looks or sounds like Elvis Presley whatsoever!
Hurray!
As for Christopher Walken's performance in part 2?
"The SPAAICE... must FLAUW!" You have to read it in his voice, to understand that context. I was amused but not overly impressed with his performance. It doesn't weaken the project but could have been embodied by a variety of performers, who have never had the propensity to ask for "more cowbell!"
This has to be seen in IMAX!
