Varghese’s review published on Letterboxd:
“Our mothers always remain the strangest, craziest people we've ever met.” ― Marguerite Duras
* Kudos to all those mothers out there who struggle in this crazy ass world with limited resources to bring up their children themselves deprived of a father figure.
* Anne Dorval is a force of nature, she drained my soul emotionally. She is a juggernaut of feelings. To maintain normalcy in the face of chaos is applaud worthy in itself and she gives the performance of her career as well as one the year's best!
* Suzanne Clement is a grenade bomb under the facade of unsurety.
*Struggling with inner demons whilst convincing your own loved ones that nothing is wrong was hands down the most powerful scene i have seen in cinema the whole year,Antoine-Olivier Pilon is a true find!
*Xavier Dolan has a gift for juxtaposing songs and colors in a delightful palette.
*Combines the rage of I Killed My Mother and the calmness of We Need to Talk About Kevin and delivers a knock out punch.
*Brimming with oedipal overtones, loneliness and non conformism.
* This Winner of the Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival is my choice for the best movie of the year!
