Just plane fun and almost entirely carried but the Weavings rock solid performance. Not high art, but a blast with drinks and some friends. The strongest element aside from the acting to me is the perfect tone. DARKLY funny while still managing to be deeply horrific at times.

One of my top 10 films ever made. It overcomes so many potential hurdles and even turns a few into positives like the confinement of almost entirely taking place in 2 rooms. The acting is blunt but stellar. The blocking is over the top but always justified. I can see not loving this movie as much as I do, but damn does it always result it me taking away something new. 10/10 must watch for me.

This is a better Hobbit adaptation than Peter Jacksons drawn out 3 movies adapting the same material and you can fight me about that! At least this is cute, doesn’t over stay it’s welcome, and is arguably more faithful to the source material. Plus the Lenin looking dude narrating? Confusing and captivating. Every Tolkien fan must watch for the Smaug battle alone. Talk about a thrill ride.

I’m not sure how much of this is sarcasm either, but I did actually enjoy it.
