Movie: Professor / Producer / Consumer

I went in prepared to be underwhelmed by this one. But within moments I knew that I would have to take the director’s introductory remarks about “strapping in” to heart — this was gonna be a fun ride. It's political but accessible. It’s filled with “new band explodes on the scene” movie cliches and makes them fresh. (I’ve been secretly begging for a moratorium on any more “hey… that's my song they're playing!” scenes, and this one does it twice…
Outstanding. I already like Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg… but together, neither of them has been better. (During the Q&A, I started assembling a list of old movies they should remake. They could easily do justice to the original In-Laws — which you should all watch.) A Real Pain is such a joy… the ing cast is terrific… Eisenberg is a true storyteller… Just a must-see! And perfectly titled for a few reasons…
