Paul Atredies: *does literally anything*

Stilgar: Lisan Al Ghaib

Memes aside while Dune Part 1 was the introduction and set up for the story, bringing you into the world, its characters and the overall story. But Dune Part 2 is where the fun begins and where Dune really comes into its own.

All the characters are great with Paul and Chani having a genuinly interesting relationship, all the while Paul has to deal with becoming this Messiah figure and the consequences that may have. Not to mention characters like Stilgar, The Baron, and Fayd Rautha, a great villain played incedibly by Austin Butler, potraying this ruthless sociopath flawlessly. But honestly everybody is great here.

The direction is excellent with gorgeous shots that bring Arrakis to life better than the first film, while also selling the large scale of everything going on, with some pretty damn good battle scenes. Villeneuve has already proven himself a master of large scale scifi with the first film and Blade Runner 2049, but part 2 really cements him as a scifi great.

The storyline is also great, dealing with prophecy, faith, and chosen ones, and showcasimg the effects such things can have on both the many and the few in ways that feel unique to Dune. Like I said the story really comes into its own here and I think this film is whats gonna make or break Dune for most people.

Now I do have some gripes, first off some characters like the Baron and even Fayd couldve used some more screentime, hell even Chani couldve had abit more time imo, Pauls story takes a turn at one point and I think it does feel maybe abit too quick imo, couldve used a tiny bit more time there, and finally certain character deaths feel pretty anti climatic and couldve been better.

But Dune Part 2 is the fantastic movie youve been expecting, with alot to take in and think about while also never feeling like too much. All I can say is bring on Dune Messiah.
