Among many things cinema can be, being a reflection of the society is a major one. This one does a fantastic job at that, but also one ups it by also showing how you should act in the moment of urgency, without being preachy. Abhishek Banerjee is as usual fantastic throughout of Stolen - which also scores at being very engaging from the get go till the very end - but it is the final act where he (and the film) truly explodes.

P.S: Amazon kinda spoiled things with that foreshadowing poster.

All my life - at least since I can - I have had this tendency of picturing how life would be in the future (say five years later) or comparing the present with the past (say five years back). If I consider that habit of mine as something profound, then Mike Flanagan's latest work seems like a pat on the back.

Here is an atmospheric horror which uses the jump scare technique perfectly. A brilliant film from start to finish, carefully crafted in a way that gives you time to get familiar with the characters and its world first, before unleashing the horror quotient in a smart, bone-chilling fashion.

Easily my favorite horror of the year, after The Witch and The Wailing.
