The rating is for the season overall, as I felt like using this to put out my thoughts and feelings on the finale and the season as a whole.
This season has felt like a step down from the already inconsistent season 1. Don’t get me wrong, there are episodes I liked here: Lux, The Well, Lucky Day and The Story and The Engine are all good, but none above a 7/10 for me (maybe 7.5 for Well and Story?).…
It felt like every force on heaven and Earth was stopping me from seeing this, but I finally have! And it’s spectacular. Took a little while to get going for me but when it started it just did not stop. Full of jaw dropping, heart racing moments. Ryan Coogler simply does not miss.
So it starts slow, and the corridor cgi looks like it’s from Spy Kids, but this feels like quintessential Doctor Who. Weird, wacky, creepy, shonky effects, all elevated by fantastic performances from David Tennant and Catherine Tate and an ending that left my excited for the final special next week.
