I watched this in "Screen X" format, my first time watching in such a format as it was just added in my city at the beginning of the month. I'm hyped to see more films in this format; the immersion was incredible, and it really added a new layer to the theater experience that I didn't know was out there.
What a great wrap-up of the Ethan Hunt saga (assuming this is indeed the last of him). The climactic scene featuring the biplane duel, the nuclear bomb defusing, and the hacking of the server room had me unironically invoking Scorcese's "absolute cinema". That's what action films are supposed to be. Incredible tension, suspense, believable high stakes, and unbelievable stunt work.
Tom Cruise really is the Messiah of movies. All hail.
