Eephus

Ten years ago, Carson and I would bail on our respective college friends to go watch movies at the Harvard Film Archive. We spotted each other every time because we were usually the only people there under the age of 50, but we never spoke. Three years would before I convinced myself it wouldn't be psycho to say hi to someone I'd seen dozens of times. Being a dude is sick.

We immediately bonded over baseball, and a couple years after that we started writing Eephus. Now we've made a movie about how hard it is for men to be friends with each other, and we got to watch it with 40 of our best friends and collaborators at Cannes, the only place snobbier than the Harvard Film Archive. The rest of the cast and crew were on set nearly every day, since we had the bright idea to shoot an ensemble movie all in one location in real time. But that communal atmosphere and shared sense of purpose made me feel a bond with everyone that was unlike anything else I've ever worked on. All over some old guys trying to play baseball.

If you don't catch it at a festival this summer, Eephus will be released soon. But I hope you see it in a theater. Maybe you'll make a friend.
