blair witch style found footage promoted through message board anonymity based on a actual real life murder feels almost too fitting of circumstances for a movie that's entirely about a guy spiraling out of control and ruining his life over his true crime obsession. to look for answers so deeply that the truth becomes entirely metatextual. it's a really weird and sad and ugly and uncomfortable look into conspiracy-brained individuals but fuck did it keep me hooked the entire time.…

too many people focus solely on the porn bits and tend to forget just how potent this story is in its portrayal of familial abuse and the overall topic of growing up too fast. idk, fuck me for relating a little too much to the girl whose life was basically run by some abusive parent, right ?
