Dune: Part Two

2024

★★★★½

Exceptional filmmaking and getting to see this in LieMax was a treat for the eyeballs.

The quality of the production is all on display - those vistas and great action sequences, costumes and equipment all look superb. The story feels somewhat simplistic this time but the themes of war and religion are treated well without being heavy handed.

Villeneuve and Fraser just know how to shoot a film, loved the choice of black and white in the middle of the film for reasons. Chamalet and Zendaya have great chemistry, Ferguson gets to show a new side to her character and Butler is a fantastic simmering villain (I liked how he chose to copy how Skarsgård talks).

This is where I feel not closely following film productions anymore for fear of spoilers has let me down yet again, as I thought Part Two was the final film. So I left the cinema feeling slightly puzzled and a bit of an idiot!
