probably the closest thing to an modern take on ed wood (thanks to tommy wiseau himself) were gonna get. both tim burtons movie and the disaster artist work as american dream/success stories with comedy that doesnt always rely on the viewer being aware of the room or plan 9 from outer space, of course there are jokes only the room fans would get, but thanks to the source material comedy is also found outside of references.
