Over the Garden Wall

★★★★½ 5

A good example of an experience that’s enhanced tenfold when it’s watched surrounded by friends.

Someone play two old cats with me now.

They’re rich but still nice
They’re nice because they’re rich

Peerless, perfection.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King

2003

★★★★½ 33

The weak link of the trilogy, but not by a far margin. Luckily the “you bow to no one” scene is so compelling, the 30 endings after that don’t completely sour that high.

Also, I’m still convinced Frodo forgot Legolas’s name at the end.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

2023

★★★★½ 31

There’s been so much sequel syndrome in the last decade, especially in the sphere of superhero movies, but Across the Spider-Verse succeeds not because it throws in hundreds of Easter eggs to appease its audience— but because it continues to care more about the story, the characters, and the world(s) they occupy. The love is in the details. Every frame and every pixel.…

Interstellar

I witnessed the docking scene in 70mm and everyone clapped after which made me forget the one dimension Anne Hathaway character and that it’s incredibly overwritten. Like damn Nolan(s), you don’t have to hold my hand the entire time. Oh well, the power of love!

Edit: I just learned what “docking” means. No, I will not be changing this post.
