CinemaJoe’s review published on Letterboxd:
In a reality where so much mainstream horror feels like it was made in a factory somewhere— at least The Ring dared to have style (along with its substance).
One of those rare movie’s whose reputation has been marred by the exhausting jokes and skits (I can’t begin to tell you the amount of prank calls I would make saying “7 days”) but if anything, it was a testament to its massive popularity and footprint. Revisiting this was a blast— it’s tension and atmosphere is still top notch and it was surprisingly far more bleak than I ed. We’d be lucky if we got more movies like The Ring in 2023.
Also, where is Gore Verbinski? When the world needed him most, he vanished.
