Jack (not the ripper)’s review published on Letterboxd:
After the first watch, I felt somewhat betrayed by Paul. Just like Chani in the film, I loved Paul the character and hoped he would never change. But with the Bene Gesserit propaganda from Lady Jessica and the manufactured "as written" scenes, I felt that he wasn’t the hero I thought he was; he was a false prophet just to control the Fremen.
After the second watch, my opinion completely changed. I was more like Stilgar, where every single cool thing Usul Paul Muad’Dib did, I thought to myself, "Lisan al Gaib!!!" If a movie can give you two different perspectives, then that is a phenomenal film.
Can’t wait to watch it 8 more times and read the books!
