I get it now. 9 months after its theatrical release, Dune: Part Two is still not the second coming of cinematic Christ that some people deem it to be (those people clearly didn’t learn from this film’s lessons about worshipping leaders); but in an era where great blockbusters seem increasingly hard to come by, Dune: Part Two provides a refreshing breath of spectacle air. A biblical narrative cruising through a breathtaking world of technology and tragedy; it’s a near-impossible vision to realise in cinematic form, but if executed correctly, it works like magic. Frank Herbert would’ve been so proud.
