You have to applaud the artistry on screen - the effects yes, but the sets and costumes too are great. Unfortunately, I'm less sold on the story - it's so slow, and takes itself so seriously. Some really good moments in and amongst the oppressive Christ allegories and space politics. I daresay it's closer to the original text (of which I have no interest in reading), but I now have more of an affection for Lynch's Dune with its snappier pace.
