World’s dumbest movie watcher

American myth-making and myth-breaking. The open frontier as a path to liberation, though not for who you’d expect in a film like this. Here, it is the men who are relegated to domestic frivolity and petty squabbles, while the women are the ones forging their own way. Even inside that subversion, the two leads are mirrors of each other, following an almost inverse path of development. Thelma becomes tougher, while Louise softens. Their self-actualization continues until the very end, their final moment frozen above America’s greatest chasm.
