Grant Polifka’s review published on Letterboxd:
I gotta it, I wasn't as hyped for this film as much as the first, mainly because it was the second part of the story that was so rushed and uninteresting in the 1984 version. But as many others have said, this film is truly a grand spectacle and the completion of a filmmaking pipe dream by one of the best filmmakers of the 21st century.
On top of being visually/technically perfect, emotionally stirring, and having a great cast (of which Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, and Austin Butler shine), this film (as well as the first) successfully manages to be the antithesis of the 1984 version by capturing the true message of the original story and seeping itself into a sense of tragedy for Paul Atreides and his simultaneous fall and rise.
Its the type of film that really hasn't been seen since Lawrence of Arabia, and its the type of film that cinema needs more of.
