Honestly, the concept of this film is pretty daft (daft being an understatement). Argento’s use of unmotivated colour lighting is so persistent and at first is kind of irritating but by the end you just accept the world for what it is. For all this was very muddled and kind of had a stronger 1st act than the rest of the film, it did undeniably have really memorable moments. The first act of the film is gorgeous. A smoothly paced, superbly acted romantic drama exploring the relationship of a filmmaking couple who are on a retreat in Bergman Island. It very tastefully references Persona, Cries & Whispers, Through a Glass Darkly without ever losing focus and simply serving the purpose of being a Bergman tribute film.
