Dawson Joyce’s review published on Letterboxd:
NOTE: This is a review of the Netflix original series Stranger Things.
SEASON 1:
A fun, energetic, intoxicating, and suspenseful homage to all things 1980's (particularly the works of Steven Spielberg, Stephen King, George Lucas, Wes Craven, and John Carpenter), Stranger Things is one of the best television shows in recent memory and undoubtedly one of Netflix's finest original series, with breathtaking atmosphere, wonderful characters, fantastic performances, gorgeous cinematography, great dialogue, and excellent storytelling.
SEASON 2:
Aside from one episode that feels painfully out-of-place, Netflix’s Stranger Things still goes strong in its second season, once again offering a delightful mixture of horror, humor, and heart along with wonderful characters both new and old, phenomenal performances, beautiful and clever cinematography, and sublime writing that stays true to what made the first season so great while also superbly evolving and expanding upon the story and characters.
