I’m really taken aback by how much I enjoyed this on rewatch. I feel at odds with this movie. I love a lot of what Dan Mindel is doing here and his experience from working on Tony Scott movies really comes through (but is actively undermined by Abrams' direction). Such a punchy and textured image. Ethan Hunt feels like an actual character maybe for the first time in the series and this movie establishes the formula that future movies would build on moving forward in many ways.
