A movie cooked according to the Marvel recipe.
With Deadpool as a likeable, morally flexible chaotic protagonist, paired with the iconic Wolverine in battle against generic villains who want to destroy the world (order).
Accompanied by a good soundtrack, peppered with countless cameos and insiders and infinite interconnections due to the multiverse.
While the MCU has lost a lot of its glamor and the formula no longer works, Deadpool & Wolverine works brilliantly.
Why does it work, ven though the described formula is taken to the extreme in this movie?
Probably because of the PG 18 rating and the meta-level element, Marvel can also criticize itself. The MCU has now taken itself so seriously, tried to evoke the big emotions and has now failed.
But Deadpool can do things differently. He can criticize, polarize and actually do everything (except consume cocaine on-screen).
His looseness, paired with the nostalgia of diving back into the old Marvel, makes for some great moments.
The movie is not perfect, some sequences are a bit drawn out, others, such as the ending, are a bit too short, the villains are not exactly complex and the movie was often on the verge of making the wrong decisions, but it is and remains good entertainment from start to finish.
Especially recommended for people who grew up with the pre-MCU movies.
